Xander looked up at him, still looking a little hurt.
She looked at the new girl and nodded to her. "I am Priscilla Lee."
Jean-Claude stepped into the classroom and sat on his desk, crossing his legs. He glanced at a muggle-style clock hanging on the wall, which read that there was still another 10 minutes left. "I think there are only a few more students left."

"Yeah, but the best ones are here already..." Brann said with a smirk.

He walked over to Xander, allowing a hand to caress the jawline of the boy's face delicately. "There is nothing wrong with sensitivity," he said quietly. "Just remember that most you talk to will have two sides." He looked at Brann and smirked. "That may be so, but I have another few minutes to be fair. After that, however, we can begin."
Xander sniffled and watched the teacher, suddenly having a look of adoration for the older man. He prepared himself for the class.
Jean-Claude walked along the desks until he reached Carrie. "You should join the others, childe. Come, sit at the front of the class. I promise not to bite." He returned to the front, walking by Adrienne and Priscilla. "I am planning a group activity this class session. Return to you seat, Adrienne. You can talk later."
He checked the time once more and walked back to the blackboard. He erased the word there, which faded to nearly the color of the blackboard, but not quite. As he spoke, he wrote his definition of muggle on the board. "The definition of muggle changes for the sake of the class. The classic definition is that a muggle is anyone who is not a wizard or witch, and was not born from one. Our definition is modified to include supernatural creatures. Therefore, a muggle is a human without magical or supernatural ability."
He turned to the class, hands clasped behind his back. "Using this definition, why is it important for all of us to study muggles?"

"To make sure we don't get chased after with torches and pitchforks, because they can't accept anything different that they could see in some way, shape, or form as dangerous."
Carrie leaned back in her chair. "Because it's important to understand people, even those that aren't like us," she answered, drumming her fingers on her desk.

He pointed to Adrienne. "Exactement!! However, their weapons are far more sophisticated than torches and pitchforks these days. You hear someone apparate behind you and by the time you turn to see who it is, you've already a bullet through you."
He looked over the class. "Who here has already been hunted? Any of you?"

He looked over the class. "Who here has already been hunted? Any of you?" Adrienne had been surprised that what she said was actually what he had been looking for. A bullet through you? "Hm. That sounds pleasant," she replied.
Carrie half raised her hand. Ah. The Salem Witch Trials had been fun. She snickered under her breath, and said so only Brann could hear. "Who says you have to believe what you say?"

"All vocals to the front please." He looked the students over. "Have none of you been hunted? Either recently or in the past?"

"All vocals to the front please." He looked the students over. "Have none of you been hunted? Either recently or in the past?" Brann smiled "Yeah Carrie, all vocals to the front," he teased. He turned to Professor LeBlanc and said "No one has never made me the prey..." the smile faded from his face and he added "Nor will they."

"Easy to say," LeBlanc answered Brann. "But increasingly harder to manage." He eyed Brann closely. "After all, a how many are you willing to kill to survive? A couple? A dozen? A hundred?" He walked back to the board, tapping it. "It is better not to draw attention to yourself, then to attract anywhere from a dozen aurors to an entire militia."
"Muggles are the easiest to hide amongst. They are willing to be blind to unusual circumstances, and do not currently have devices capable of detecting werewolves and vampires. Thus, this class will not be your normal Muggle Studies class, gathering information about items or such that are fascinating or keeping them from knowing about the wizarding world. This class is about learning how to blend in, and manipulate them without the use of magic or supernatural powers. Or fear."

Brann took out his quill rolling his eyes. He didn't go out intending to kill people... it just would happen. He felt no remorse, nor regret, infact he sinply didn't feel. "So you're saying Muggles are as dumb as trolls?" He laughed. He was born from a muggle woman, but he'd never met her, or even seen her. "Seriously Professor, is that how you managed to survive? Living with muggles?"

"'Dumb,'" he corrected, "is not the same as blind. The problem is that muggles are extremely intelligent. We are only lucky that most of them choose to remain blind."

Brann grinned at the professor, then looked at his classmates and wondered why none of them were speaking up.

Carrie remained silent, dropping her hand the small amount that it was raised. She had no wish to announce about how she had been hunted, nor to speak in front of the class at all.
Adrienne nodded. "What is it like selective hearing, only with sight? It seems as though they choose to not see what happens before them because they are afraid of being powerless. Weak, even. Though they don't have the same powers we have, they've found easy ways to kill each other. They don't seem much different, just that they're naive enough to believe that there isn't anything more dangerous that they themselves could come up with or invent," she paused, then added, more under her breath, "Did I seriously just say all that out loud?"

"It's not danger, either, childe." On the side of the board he wrote two words. Science, and religion. "Can anyone tell me what these two words are?"

"Yeah" Brann said smiling "Fact and Fiction..." He laughed and seeing no one else laughing with him he decided to answer the professor's question "Science is a study of proven fact that helps people believe in certain things while religion is a muggle set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of people most of which have not been proven and are believed blindly." He turned to his classmates and shrugged "I do read the assigned texts, you know..."

Adrienne shrugged. "I don't. I like my random guesses, thank you. I'm right about .5 percent of the time. That's enough for me."
Carrie laughed dryly. "Religion is the reason as to why we were tortured and burned a few hundred years ago. It's also the reason to why early scientists were poisoned or killed in a more gruesome manner. The churches word was law."

Jean-Claude nodded to Brann. "Correct." He looked to Carrie, making a 'and there you have it' sort of gesture. "Yes, that is also true. Even today you will find that most that proclaim themselves as hunters are from Christian and Catholic organizations. Some even have the very abilities that we do, but claim them to be gifts from God meant to be used against the 'demons' which 'infest' the world. But, it is also what blinds the majority of them."
He underlined the word Science. "This is the greatest gift to man, and also the thing which hides us." He looked over the class. "Science cannot prove our existence yet, and even says that we cannot possibly exist. Because of this, they turn away. They use logic to defy our presence. For instance-"
He seemed to appear on the other side of the room. Only the vampires could see him move, and even then he'd been difficult to track. He walked calmly back to the front of the room, continuing to talk. "What would science say about what I just did?"

Brann shrugged and laid back into his seat. He placed his heels on the desk, crossing his legs.
