Only the basics need to be read, and the powers of your characters. The rest are to be used as reference material for plot-lines and fight scenes.
I. The Basics:
1. Students cannot be more powerful than the teachers. (This was stated when the RP was first started)
2. No super-characters. Starting next term, all of the RP characters in use need to have at least 5 weaknesses/character flaws included in their profile.-At least three of these must be physical weaknesses.
3. No power playing. I've been seeing this from a few people.(Not so much now, it's gotten better than when I first posted this in its old thread) This includes:
Evlyn grabbed her arm after it was burned. Though the fireball had hit her, it had been a near miss so hadn't fully maimed her.
*powerplay*Adrienne took advantage when Evlyn was doubled over in extreme pain.
4. The use of powers and magic are a result from a character's own energy, ergo, it will drain them. Any complex magic will weaken them. So, all in all, they're their own enemies as well.
5. Characters cannot, in any circumstances, be all-knowing. If a character is not told something, they can't bring it up or consciously use it against another character. Just because you have access to character profiles does not mean that they do.
6. Characters cannot become powerful over night. Characters who have just come to the school must show weakness and must not be able to fully control their powers. After all, this is what the school is for. Also, characters must practice with their powers in order to get better. It must be posted.
II. Pyrokinetics:
1. Certain spells from capable witches/wizards can lessen the heat felt. (Say if one was charmed so they wouldn't be burned for touching the other; in situations of arrest or such, they could charm themselves so the heat of the other wouldn't effect them. Students most likely could not; this is only for the cases of skilled witches/wizards)
2. When fully submerged in water their powers become weaker at the least. They may heat the water to an extent. Death or full inhibition of use or powers is plausible.
III. Telekinetics/Psychokinetics:
1. Definition: The term psychokinesis (from the Greek ψυχή, "psyche", meaning mind, soul, or breath; and κίνησις, "kinesis", meaning motion; literally "movement from the mind") or PK, also known as telekinesis (Greek τῆλε + κίνησις, literally "distant-movement" referring to telekinesis) or TK, denotes the paranormal ability of the mind to influence matter, time, space, or energy without the use of any currently known type of physical means. For instance, psychokinesis might be used to distort or move an object, or to influence a random number generator (RNG) The position of most skeptics of the paranormal is that psychokinesis does not exist in the real world, but only appears to exist due to fraud or statistical manipulation of scientific data, while parapsychologists say that the ability is real or deserving of further study based on the above-mentioned RNG experiments and eyewitness reports involving hard-to-reproduce spontaneous phenomena.[/i][/blockquote]
2. They cannot do anything.-In example, during the original roleplay on snitchseeker there was an instance where Adrienne suggested Lorayne(old character, :[ Left us) attempt to alter the chemical make-up of a rose on the dining hall table to change its color. Lorayne nearly passed out, and had a blasting headache for the rest of the day. Just from something that minimal.
3. Moving objects will not drain them, as long as they're not moving something obscenely large.
IV. Invisibility
1. They can become completely transparent, invisible to the human eye.
2. Other Invisibles can see them, but only when they themselves are invisible as well. Even at this point, the other character will appear translucent and barely visible.
V. Vampirism
1. Vampires are created through the mixing of blood. A bite, in which the puncture is made. Then the blood of the vampire has to taint that of the human's. It's a virus.
2. They can die.In example:
-Stake to the heart kills them nearly instantly.
-Beheading kills them.
-Holy water burns them, and poisons.
-Sunlight is a slow-acting poison; over a long period of time it will kill them.
-Metal crosses burn them, wooden can only wield them away.
3. They can feel pain just as mortals can. Blades can maim them, just not kill.
4. They heal rapidly.
5. Fangs are retractable.
6. Heightens looks.
7. They do not age.
8. By definition, they are not alive. This, however, is debatable. Depends on what you call 'alive'.
9. Both the beat of their heart and the take of breath are optional, done mostly out of habit, a subconscious action.
10. Speed, agility, sense of smell, strength all heightened.
VI. Werewolves/Lycans
1. Are transformed by a bite. Like vampirism, it is caused by a virus. It passes through blood/from saliva to blood. (ick) xP
2. They are forced to change on the full moon. Depending on their breed, they can change into wolves on command. They are not nearly as strong as they are during the full moon, but they are more in control. Not all can do this.
3. Speed, agility, sense of smell, strength all heightened. Even when in human form.
4. Silver acts as a poison.
5. They heal rapidly.
6. They age slower throughout their late teens and twenties. Much slower.
VII. Immortality
1. They do not die a natural death, and after adolescence their aging process slows dramatically.
2. Each one has a different physical weakness/way to die.
3. When in doubt over number two, a surefire way to kill them is beheading. (If you're tempted, don't get graphic. I don't need to know)
4. Cannot be changed into Vampires.
5. Can be hurt/maimed like anyone else.
6. Heal rapidly.
VIII. Witches/Wizards
1. The use of their wand is used to focus their magic/energy. Qualified ones are able to produce magic without a wand.
2. Every bit of magic drains them. Most is not visible, only very, very, very complex enchantments and such.
IX. Astral Projection/Apparation/Disapparation
1. The ability to move oneself from one point to another is through that of a plane. Nothing exists on this plane, it is a void, a rift in the universe which can be tapped into and used for that of traveling by those able.
2. Astral Projection is a power in itself. (term borrowed from Charmed)
3. The term apparation and disapparation are borrowed from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels, being used to keep us on the same page. These are abilities of witches and wizards.
