So as they're not lost in transit...
Adrienne leaned against the wall, shutting her eyes against his, because she really couldn't bear to look in them. Of course she felt nothing for him, but suddenly a belated feeling of guilt swept through her as she continued lying to him. The biggest challenge was keeping her thoughts parallel to the lie, which meant really living it, feeling it, and then her emotions betrayed her.
As for Tristan, he suspected her dishonesty, but didn't seem to take too much note of it. He knew, but it did not reflect in his actions. All truth be told, he was a little curious. It was not as if he had anything to live for, and even less to die for. Boredom was the true culprit behind his recklessness, and he leaned closer.
He could charm her, he knew. It would be so easy with her being a mortal, and his being a vampire. He could just as easily flip a switch as cause an infatuation to manifest to the point of obsession, addiction. Would he? He wasn't quite sure, but it was a notion that might, in the future, pose an amusing game for his tired, bored mind.
"It's all for the greater good, though?" he inquired, moving his cold fingers to brush a strand of her hair aside from her face. She shivered away from his touch, and he smiled to himself. It wasn't the reaction of the girl she pretended to be. So obvious it was that she was in love with someone else, and with a snap of his fingers he could make her forget all about him.
Adrienne recomposed herself, letting her fingers trail up his side as she leaned in closer, only a few mere inches from him. "That's right," she whispered, her voice dropping significantly. If they were discovered, the entire thing would be jeopardized. "So you're in?"
"What will I gain from it, again?" he asked, his on hand resting on her shoulder, as his other guided her face to look at him. She had to look in his eyes.
"Everything," Adrienne responded, glancing at him for a moment, but averting her gaze to the ground directly after. She couldn't look in his eyes, and most definitely not for too long.
"Look at me, Adrienne," he breathed softly, knowing exactly what he was doing all the same. Did he love her? No. He barely even knew the term anymore. He was not the boy he used to be, and his morals and principles had been easily swapped for curiosity. She complied, and his smirk became smug before relaxing into a soft smile. "Once I'm in this, we're in it together, correct?" She nodded, ready to appease. "You do like my company, don't you? These past few months won't be tossed aside, will they?"
"No," she responded certainly, lost somewhere in his eyes. Something that took reside where his soul had once rested seemed to draw her closer, wrapping itself around her own. Was it being smothered or held? Something irked her beneath the surface; this was not right. It was all, all wrong. The subconscious thought was then hit with retaliations from the logical part of her mind. Sebastian didn't love her. What loyalty did she owe him? None. "I wouldn't do that to you," she said quietly, yearning for him to hold her closer, for something to happen because just him standing there looking at her was killing her.
"That's good," he murmured, his hand dropping from her face, from her shoulder. Her expression became infuriated for a moment at that, but was relaxed when his hand grasped hers. "When do we meet?"
She smiled to herself and nothing seemed to matter. Someone else made her feel this way once. His face flashed somewhere in the back of her mind, and with it she felt a momentary pang of loss...of something. "Over the winter holidays," she responded. Words continued, but she didn't recall them later. They were meaningless. The moment his hand left hers and his eyes loosened their grip on her, the spell was broken, and she was left angry and spiteful.
