Arithmancy is a complex magical art which can be used to predict many things about a person, including their future. Unlike more forms of divination, this practice can do so much more then tell the future. It can define a person's personality and everything about them. Here is where students can learn about the complex art of Arithmancy.
This class is taught by Professor Acacia Masters.

Acacia walked into the arithmancy classroom, finding herself already dreading her first class. She took a seat in front of her desk and pulled out her lesson plans, reading them over. A short introduction to the class also sat in front of her, written the previous night. After reading over all of her papers, she looked up and waited for the students to arrive. Hopefully none of the students were as dimwitted as usual.

Xander ran into the classroom and rather cat-like, leapt gracefully into his seat. Arithmancy he could do easy! Or, he thought he could. Oh well, either way, it seemed like a good class for him.

Damien made his way into the classroom, expecting to be one of the last ones to arrive. When he got there, only one student was there. "Clearly punctualness isn't big here," he muttered under his breath. He took a seat in the back of the room, avoiding meeting the eyes of the teacher and single student.
Zephyr walked into the room, bouncing slightly. He was in a surprisingly good mood, which was extremely rare for him. He was on time, or at least on time for the classes at Final Academy. When he arrived, he saw the classroom near empty. Then, he spotted Xander. He practically ran to the seat beside him, nearly jumping on it before Brann could appear and take it from him. He remember his promise to his teacher, but decided to ignore that.

Xander looked around, frowning. "Where is everyone? Is this all of the class?" Isn't Brann coming? he wanted to ask, but then, maybe Arithmancy just wasn't for Brann. Xander wasn't fond of Divination, himself.

Brann strolled in calmly, and saw Zephyr by Xander. He had an urge to lean into the pink haired kid and tell him he was in his chair but opted to sit behind Xander, to keep an eye on goings on.

Acacia stood up from her desk, grabbed her little pointer stick and walked to stand in front of her board. She pulled out her wand and flicked it. The word "Arithmancy" appeared on the board in a nice, but legible script.
"Welcome to Arithmancy class. Since this class was supposed to begin five minutes ago and no other students have arrived, I am assuming they are not going to arrive and therefore not allowing them in my class. From now on, all students are expected to be here on time or they will not be permitted to sit through the lesson and will be expected to write a five page essay on the importance of arriving on time and why if one does not arrive on time, they will ultimately fail at life. Understood? Good."
She said the entire introduction rather fast, hardly pausing between words. After she said this, she stopped and looked around at the students to see if they were following. Even if they were not, she really did not care. She continued. "This is Arithmancy class. Work of any other kind is not permitted in here. Anyone who speaks out of turn in this classroom may just find a knife held at their throat. Anyone who doubts that this will happen can just ask any student who took this course last year. Now, to begin. Who can tell me anything about arithmancy?"

Xander looked around at his silent classmates and tentatively raised his hand. "Arithmancy is the use of numbers to determine the circumstances of a person or a person's future, I think."

Brann beamed at the kid's answer, like a proud brother seeing his little brother succeed at something.

Acacia looked at Xander as he answered the question and then nodded at him. "Correct. Well, mostly. Arithmancy is the relationship between numbers and physical objects. It is also known as numerology and is practiced in the muggle world. Unlike most other classes taught at this school, Arithmancy is able to be used by all people. Muggles, wizards, witches, vampires, werewolfs, powers, etc."
Acacia turned to the board and waved her wand at it. The alphabet appeared on the board, arranged into columns. "Each letter in the english alphabet corresponds to a number. There are two methods of doing this. The Pythagorean method and the Chaldean method. Since the Chaldean method is used less frequently, we will most likely not touch upon it in this class. Does anyone know what letters correspond to what numbers?

"Eto... There are only numbers one through nine used, right?" He thought about it a moment. "So, maybe start with A as one, B as two, and keep going through the alphabet, repeating when you hit nine?" He realized that didn't make much sense so he took out a piece of parchment, writing on it.

Acacia walked over to Xander and looked at the paper he held up. Then she nodded, waved her wand and a small star was placed on the top corner of the paper. Then she turned back to the board and the numbers appeared above the alphabet. "Correct," she said to Xander.
Then she addressed the entire class. "His participation is being noted. It would be wise for the rest of you to follow his example and pay attention in class. It will be rewarded."

"You will learn at the end of the class. I want to see how many of you wilingly participate in class without knowing how you will be rewarded. It is useful for a teacher to get a general idea about how the students will act throughout the semester," Acacia said. "Also know that I won't murder you in your sleep unless you deserve it."
She looked around the classroom. "Now, any more questions about how I am running this class?"

"None? Okay, good," Acacia said, looking around the room once more.
She stepped beside the board and flicked her wand. "Acacia Lynn Masters" appeared across the board. "Now, I want all of you to pull out a piece of paper and convert my name into numbers. It's not that difficult, the chart is right on the board."
